Details about Cassy’s Tale

The cassowary kids’ picture book begins with a cassowary chick hatching. Her proud father is watching from amongst the beautiful rainforest. In nature, male cassowaries tend their young.

Cassy is learning to walk. While stumbling, she discovers her powerful legs. Clearly, she enjoys jumping up trying to catch butterflies. A python is watching her while dangling from a branch.

Later on, Cassy’s father is encouraging her to follow him. He is showing her how to push through dense rainforest. A flying fox is watching while hanging from the branches.

Additionally, a curious green tree frog, a character from Where is Croaky?, is sitting on the forest floor.

Further on, the new father is teaching his young daughter about the rainforest and food. The cassowary chick is amazed by the colourful rainforest fruits. A butterfly lands on Cassy’s back and she is watching him.

However, Cassy trips over a log from the last cyclone. A frogmouth owl is resting on it and a rainbow lorikeet is witnessing the commotion. Subsequently, dad takes the opportunity to explain about the destruction caused by cyclones. Therefore, included is a painting of the destruction.

But, now the rainforest has regrown and Cassy is following the trail of colourful berries.

Illustrations of a green tree snake, sulphur crested cockatoos and an azure kingfisher on the back cover are included. Additionally, birdwing and ulysses butterflies from Lyssie the Butterfly appear. Included are tropical rainforest plants, like the Licuala palms, tree ferns, stag horn ferns, birds nest ferns and many more.
